“A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.” Lao Tzu
We began our journey with the British Council ISA project with the formulation of blueprint and the formation of the core team which was going to replicate the plan of incorporating global learning activities into reality.
Children’s enthusiasm in all the ISA activities accelerated the pace of the journey towards a satisfactory level. Collaborative activities like writing letters to their peers in the USA and many Skype sessionson various topics and activities with other partnership countrieswere not only excellent learning experience but also the source of making school a joyful place for the students.
Meeting with children of same age groups around the world was very exhilarating and confidence building experience for the students and we thank the British Council for encouraging schools to undertake such projects. These activities opened the doors of ten worlds for the children. It is needless to say that it became possible only because we chose to be the part of the ISA project.
Our parents too are full of praise and appreciate the effort of the school for providing the students with the world class environment and exposure to initiate the process of global citizenship.
As the saying by John F Kennedy goes, “The highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them” we are committed to rendering an enriching learning experience to the students by collaborating our curriculum with that of the world.
A Global Education for Students
Sarala Birla Gyan Jyoti has registered with LeapEd Global Learning for collaborating with different schools on the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (UN-SDGs) projects and across events and subjects. The main aims are for students to become confident, global learners through active involvement in collaborative learning with students across the world. The holistic relationships the students form is an integral part of inquiry and project- based learning to promote student-well being during this time in education. Students are currently taking greater ownership of their learning and establishing connections with students across 20 countries.
Sarala Birla Gyan Jyoti has been awarded a Distinguished Global Learning School Award.
Eleven of our students have won Student Global Ambassador Awards and a teacher Global Coordinator Award for active participation in LeapEd Global Learning projects and events linked to the SDGs. Embracing global learning and projects has helped us to foster unity and diversity as an integral part of brotherhood, humanity and responsible citizenship.
We are proud to be a Global Learning School!
