CYCLING EXPEDITION
Raktutpal Saikia,a student of class XII of Sarala Birla Gyan Jyoti, Guwahati is an amateur cyclist from the city. He had completed a cycling tour from Guwahati to Dibru Saikhua as the youngest member of the "iu1ub6r" Cycling group in the year 2017. He aspired to y.t. to khardungta pu*, Iradakh, the highest motorable pass of the world at an altitude of tsJ+d feet cycling solo before attending 17 year age. He started his expedition from Manali (6398 feet altitude) on 15/07/2019. The distance between Manali and Khardurgiu pass is 512km. The condition of the road is pitiable in some sections. He carried all his clothes and equipment on his own cycle. He cycled without any backup vehicle. All his equipments weighed 15kg which was loaded in the rear of tire cycle. He stayed in nomadic tent dhabas which -spring up along Manali- leh on 23/07/2019. The next day he cycled from Leh (elevation 11000 feet) to Khardungla Pass (elevation 18340 feet) and reached their covering 39km' The entire cycling route has an average evelation of 4000metre (13000ft) Along the route from Manali toLeh he crossed some many high altitude passes' They are Rahtong La Pass (13060 ft), Nakee la pass (15547 ft), Baralacha La pass (16500 ft) Lachung La pass (16616 ft), Tangrang La pass (17484 ft) and finally he reached his destination Khardung La pass (10340 ft).
