On the 31st of May 2033, the Social Science Department of Sarala Birla Gyan Jyoti observed Social Science Day.
Social Science is the study of human society and how people sustain, grow and interact with one another. By examining social structures, cultural norms, and historical contexts, we can understand the past, comprehend the present and even anticipate future trends. By engaging with Social Science disciplines we develop critical thinking skills, analytical reasoning and the ability to evaluate evidence.
We were honoured by the presence of renowned personalities, Bistirna Barua and Archita Barua Bhattacharya. We had an insightful, informative talk show session with them where they enlightened our students with the role of youth in achieving sustainable development goals.
We also had a small exhibition presented by the students of classes VI, VII and VIII, where they showcased their interpretation and their take on the subject of Social Science.
The students of class IX presented a skit on French Revolution.
Further, we had a fashion show presented by the students of newly introduced subject, Fashion Studies. When the world is grappling with sustainability and environmental challenges, the fashion industry has come under scrutiny for its significant ecological footprint. With this in mind, the designers made sure that they try to shift the narrative and shine a spotlight on sustainable and recyclable fashion, where waste is transformed into beauty, creativity is merged with conscious choices and styling becomes a key factor.
