Indian International Model United Nations, Championship Conference 2015.
With a certain amount of fervour and vigour intrinsic to MUNers; whether veteran or nascent, the trip to Aamby Valley City aptly called ‘life’s finest abode,’ commenced. The 16 of us accompanied by our faculty advisor; Renu Ma’am, began our journey on the 20th of August and set off for Mumbai for a weekend of diplomacy, deliberation and some frivolity.
Upon reaching, we made our way to the auditorium for the Opening Ceremony. With Cyrus Broacha as the compere for the evening, the atmosphere was electric, but that wasn't all. With people like Vidya Balan, Ronnie Screwvala, Kiran Bedi and a few others gracing the occasion, the evening couldn't get any better. The next day began with the several committee sessions which was followed by a speaker session where Amish Tripathi and a few other speakers shared their stories. After that, we were in for a surprise when comedian Abhish Matthew along with two others from East India Comedy were the entertainers for the evening. After a highly amusing session, the social began. After a tiring evening, the third day began with a showcase, where the Chairpersons of the various committees participated in a mock committee session. After that, committee sessions began, however, the evening was all for letting our hair down. For the speaker session that day, eminent personalities like Mani Shankar Iyer and KTS Tulsi shared their illuminating words. Quite unexpectedly, Rishabh Shah; the founder of IIMUN gave a speech where he shared his journey of IIMUN and ended his speech by announcing the location of the next Championship Conference which is slated to be held at the United Nations, next year. The speaker session was followed by yet another social, the theme for the evening being a ballroom dance. All the delegates started shaking a leg, for that was our last evening together. The last day commenced with a short committee session which was to be followed by the Closing Ceremony and then lunch, however our flight schedule didn't permit us to attend the Closing Ceremony, so we had to leave Aamby Valley City with heavy hearts and memories.
From having over 2000 delegates to the simmering committee sessions, the delectable cuisine to making diplomatic ties, extravagant functions to the excellent speakers, IIMUN brought out quite a bit of us that wasn't privy to everybody earlier. All that we can say about it as we look back at those four days is that we are all glad to have been part that and the memories created there will stay on forever.
