1st Sarala Birla Conclave 2016-2017 Report AN INDELIBLE ODYSSEY An intellectual quest like no other, this journey to the first Sarala Birla Conclave held in Pune taught us many things but what we got when we reached there was the very good hospitality displayed by the B.K. Birla School. The opening ceremony commenced with the speech by Dr.Sanyal. Following which Mr.Parnab Mukherjee said a few words. The dances which came after were dazzling, mesmerizing us all! Our escorts were ever so friendly that from showing the way to our rooms till getting us a blanket for the night, they were ever ready to help us. We met the other schools at the first event, which was the debate. There was a very healthy competition with no distractions as the show proceeded smoothly. At night, we interacted with the home school, shared by name and by the time we were done talking, we had become good pals! The next day started off with an even better note as we all met for breakfast. Some schools joined us in the dining table, shared their experiences with us and we did the same. We had the drama that day and we all put up some brilliant plays but we respected other plays and clapped for all of them showing such good sportsmanship! The night wasn’t very different either, stayed up till late but the host school joined us for a chat! Schools from Delhi, Ranchi and Siliguri joined us for a long chat. Finally came the last day when we all went out for an excursion to Lonavala and then a lovely but tiresome trek to the Karla Caves. Oh the fun and laughter we all had! With some really good memories we bid other schools goodbye on the 21st as we boarded a flight back to Guwahati from Bombay. We didn’t come back empty handed though, we were declared as the 3rd best school overall with us bagging 7 prizes in total. We as a team of 7 had won the Drama competition and other 6 awards were all for the brilliant individual performances. The winners were: 1) Drama 1st - i. Sharati Roy ii. RiddhimanBorooah iii.
